Republican Club Meeting @ Cerritos Library - 12/8/09
At the Cerritos Republican Meeting held at the Cerritos Library yesterday, Chuck DeVore emphatically declared that he is running for the Senate.
Twenty Los Altos students joined Mr. DeVore for the Christmas celebration in which several Marines were honored for their service in the United States Armed Forces.
DeVore talked about how 2010 might be the year in which the California electorate may actually vote for a Republican and may deny Barbara Boxer's attempt to recapture her seat as California's junior Senator. What separates DeVore from many Republicans is his fanatic use of social networking to promote his conservative message. Even at today's function, one could see DeVore thumbing away on his iPhone checking his Facebook wall posts and tweets.
DeVore likened his candidacy to that of Obama's in 2008 and reveled in his role as an underdog Republican poised to defeat the much more well-funded Carly Fiorina in the Republican primary while still keeping his eyes focused on slaying the bigger foe, Barbara Boxer.
The California assemblyman has raised over $1 million from nearly 17,000 donors for an average of $59 per person.
Keep an eye out on this up and coming CMC grad. He may be the future of the California Republican Party.
